Hi there, my name is Dale and I’m the founder and editor of Luggage Unpacked.

I’ve been an avid traveler for over 20 years, splitting my time between the UK, USA, and China. My passport is well-worn and has more stamps than I can count! I’ve endured 25-hour journeys just to spend a single day in Europe before turning back around.

With all this globetrotting, I’ve learned a thing or two about luggage. I’ve packed for week-long getaways with nothing but a carry-on, and I’ve lugged monstrously large suitcases across continents during multi-month relocations.

I’ve used every type of luggage imaginable – duffels, spinners, hardside, softside – you name it.

Throughout these adventures, I’ve been disappointed by the lack of durability in many newer luggage models. I fondly recall my grandmother’s suitcase – a hefty blue box with no wheels that survived 40+ years of worldwide travel.

My grandmother would fling it, swing it, and drag it without a single broken part. Compared to modern luggage, it was indestructible!!
Why can’t I find a case like this any longer!

These days, I find myself replacing cases after just a couple of trips because the handles get loose or the wheels stop spinning smoothly. It’s frustrating that luggage quality has gone down while prices have gone up.

For my own sanity, and to help you guys – I made it my mission to find well-built, long-lasting suitcases that can withstand the rigors of frequent travel.

When I couldn’t find suitcases that met my standards, I decided to create Luggage Unpacked. Here, I provide in-depth reviews on all types of luggage, from budget carriers to luxury brands. I share tips and quick fixes for common luggage problems, like getting a stuck zipper unjammed or unlocking a TSA-approved lock.

My goal is to help fellow travelers find the perfect luggage for their needs and make the most of what they already have. With my real-world experience putting different brands and models through the wringer, you can trust my reviews. I have no luggage brand loyalties – I call it like it is!
